Introducing Our Croydon at Croydon Clocktower

This exhibition highlighted the process of intergenerational passing of knowledge between elders from Croydon’s Caribbean community and the artists who have been commissioned for the Our Croydon project - Nina Mdwaba, Jeremiah Brown and felix taylor. In the first of four exhibitions in the Our Croydon project, the artists introduced their work and celebrated their experiences of Croydon in their own words. In addition, the exhibition included a new artwork featuring photographs by the Our Croydon Elders, and an illustrated walking map of the Our Croydon host venues: Croydon Clocktower, Talawa Theatre Company, Stanley Arts and Turf Projects.

Introducing Our Croydon was presented at Croydon Clocktower Atrium Galleries from 11 - 24th November 2023.

Archiving Our Croydon connections

This series of photographs is the result of a workshop with elders from Croydon, led by artist and poet Jeremiah Brown. The artist-elders documented aspects of their life in Croydon, inspired by Jeremiah’s invitation and photography workshop that positions the archive as a practice of active remembering.
